Who says Jurong area doesn’t have good xiao long baos?

Ever since we found this little joint in Jurong East, we have been visiting them almost every week for our xiao long bao cravings.

Where is it?

Address: BGAIN 130 Eating House, 130 Jurong Gateway Rd, #01-211, Singapore 600130

Situated near CPF Jurong Service Center, Hui Jun La Mian Xiao Long Bao looks like another newly opened Chinese la mian store.

The truth is, they used to be a popular eatery at Jurong Gateway Road, specializing in cheap and good dishes in Singapore. However, they moved to Bishan due to rental problems 2 years ago before finally moving back to Jurong.

Top 3 Dishes for Hui Jun La Mian Xiao Long Bao

  1. Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings)
  2. Guo Tie (Pan Fried Dumplings)
  3. Dan Dan Noodles (Dry)

1. Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings)

Let’s put it this way.

These plump and juicy xiao long baos (6 for sgd5.50) were the reasons why we no longer patronize Din Tai Fung.

The skin was perfectly thin. The broth was umami and flavorful.

In fact, there was so much broth packed in each xiao long bao that the skin struggled to hold its weight.

In honesty, these xiao long bao were better than the ones we had in Din Tai Fung.

2. Guo Tie (Pan-Fried Dumplings)

These guo tie were legit.

They were first steamed and then pan-fried to give that thin and crispy bottom. Despite their crispy demeanor, these dumplings were juicy little bombs.

Crispy crust. Tender skin. Juicy fillings. What else could we ask for?

3. Dan Dan Noodles (Dry)

Their version of dry dan dan noodles is a mixture of ground pork with a scatter of peanuts.

Just look at their generous serving of ground pork. You could hardly see the noodles in the photo and the serving of noodles was quite sizable. In addition, the noodles were quite al dente as well.

Our Verdict

The noodles were fairly good but really the main show were their xiao long bao and guo tie.
